Petra, the rose-red city
Carved into sandstone cliffs by the Nabataeans, Petra is Jordan’s best-known wonder.
Petra was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom. Its facades, including Al-Khazneh (the Treasury), were carved directly into the rose-colored sandstone.
Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
